BWB response
RE: “Melbourne Victory unlikely to move into new stadium – By Chris Egan”

It is with anger and disappointment that this response be released.
It is quite sad the amount of poor journalism that is being constantly churned out to the public. The story “Melbourne Victory unlikely to move into new stadium” by Chris Egan which appeared on the austadiums.com website is yet another clear example.
BWB can categorically deny to have had any contact with austadiums.com, or any of its staff.
While we can confirm that Adam Tennenini (Tunna) is part of the supporters’ stadium action group, he has taken somewhat of a back seat during preliminary discussions and was not present for the initial meetings. In fact, Adam has not yet met with any of the other members of the action group, having relied on phone conversation to be kept abreast of progress made with the relevant parties involved.
How Mr. Egan came to the conclusion that BWB is the
“central act in control”, “BWB have been asking for demands that are unreasonable in regards to the stadium”, “Austadiums.com understands more moderate and smaller in size fan groups are providing less demanding requests for the major rectangular stadium, rather than taking a hard line approach such as the major player in the BWB Brigade which is believed to be asking for a stadium far exceeding 34,000” is anyone’s guess.
BWB continues to maintain a healthy relationship with all groups within the supporter demographic. For Mr. Egan to state
“the Victory supporters groups are fighting amongst each other to develop the venue into a stadium of their desire” is just plain ludicrous and couldn’t be further from the truth. This comment shows that no prior research was undertaken before writing, and a total lack of understanding. This point is further highlighted by the use of a particular Victory supporter who is named as a member of a group that he has no association with!
(“Matt Lamsis who belongs to the Offside Set”)
“The BWB control of the fans sector has been a leading influence in the Victory domain of not accepting the offers the State Government has put to them, despite increasing funding and many deadlines expiring” This statement deserves no rebuttal. It is not legitimate; it’s actually laughable for a host of reasons.
“BWB Brigade”? We are known as BWB, which is an abbreviation of our full name, Blue & White Brigade. Mr. Egan, using BWB as a central figure in his story based on ‘hearsay’ has even failed to correctly name the group.
The lack of knowledge and fabricated material within the article’s content makes us AGAIN question the ethical standards of Journalism in this country.
